As we enter into the weekend of the tenth anniversary of 9-11, I hope you will take a few moments to honor the 3,000+ innocents that were taken from us on that terrible day.  My prayers go out to all who lost family & friends ten years ago. 

This card goes out to their memory & those they left behind. 

Whatever you have planned for the weekend, I hope you will take some extra time to enjoy those around you - and let them know how much you care.  We are reminded every day that time is precious.  Let's remind our loved ones that they are precious, too!

Hip-Hip-Hooray!!

update.... EPB got our power back on last night!!  woo hoo!!  Thanks, EPB!!

Cheers go up to our local EPB because they have finally flagged our power lines to show that they are broken!!  We've been without power since Monday when Tropical Storm Lee came raging through, leaving a foot of rain and some 60,000 folks without power....including us!  (I'm on battery & Steve's (work) air card right now!)

The weather has been quite interesting since we moved back home - July was incredibly hot, August broke a record for being one of the dryest months ever, and broke an ALL TIME RECORD for being the HOTTEST.  Then on Labor Day we broke a record for the most rain in a 24-hr period - we got 9.81" of rain and broke the record set in 1886!!!  I must admit that this is making me a little nervous with winter coming on!!

Anyway, on to cards!!  Since we don't need electricity to stamp - I've made quite a bit of progress in just 2 days!!  *smile*  This little card features one of the new HOSTESS sets called "Happiest Birthday Wishes" for the greeting.  But what really attracted me to play with this card were the DSPs!  I absolutely LOVE the color combos in "Just Add Cake" - love them!  So Saffron, Calypso Coral, Wild Wasabi, Baja Breeze....what's not to love?!!

And for fun, I've thrown in quite a few accessories - some new, some old....like the old Photo Corners punch, and Wild Wasabi ribbon, and the new In Color Designer Brads and On Board Merry Medley pennant.  So fun to work with!

I also want to send out a GREAT BIG THANK YOU! to each of you that left a comment on my previous post!!  I appreciate you #1 leaving a comment LOL!!  and #2 helping me get your birthdays back on my calendar!!!  Plus, I just really enjoy hearing from you!  So please leave comments often!!

I've lost it!!

Now there's a statement that most of my friends & family would agree with!!

What I've lost is my perpetual Birthday Calendar!!  It was my lifeline to keeping organized for birthdays, anniversaries, etc.  I am lost without it!!

I tried to be very organized during our move - and did pretty well until the very, very end.  But what happened was the sale of our home on the VERY FIRST DAY that it hit the market - combined with the closing set for just 3 weeks later!!  Honestly, we thought our home would be on the market for a year or more - because sales in our area were that slow.  But, fate stepped in, and we had a buyer immediately.  Since our new home was 535 miles away - we basically had ONE WEEKEND to pack up everything that was still there - which was about 75% of everything we owned!

Fortunately, Andy & his girlfriend spent a long weekend & helped us finish up.  They did a marvelous job!!  But now I don't know where anything is.  So until I get a chance to empty those last 100 boxes (not kidding too much there!) I just decided to start over on some things....my calendar being one of them.  I still can't find half of my markers, either!  sigh......

Luckily, I had a blank calendar on hand!!  So today, while the rain is pouring down (thank you, God, for that!!)  I will be upstairs creating a new one.  Now, I hope to somehow track down all the information that was in the old one.  Feel free to leave me a post with your birthday if you want a card LOL!!

Time for a new color!!

A new month means a new feature color for the In Color Club!!  This months' color is Calypso Coral - such a beautiful color for this time of year :)

I've had quite the fun, too, playing with other colors in our basic palette, and playing with punches & dies for my Big Shot.  I even pulled the Spritzer out of retirement!!

I found that Early Espresso & Ruby Red (brads) are perfect accents with Calypso Coral.  The flowers were created with the 5-petal flower punch and one of Sarah's "go to dies".... Flower Fusion.  Thanks for the idea, Sarah!!

To finish it off, I've added hemp that is attached with staples - not my usual "go to adhesive" - but I love it on this card.
