Tomorrow is the last day of the Stampin' Up! year - and Sarah & I both have been covered up with last minute things to do. So we decided to take a break from BIG SHOT MONDAY. I promise we'll be back on target next week with a whole new Big Shot die!!
One of the things that each of us were working on was our Annual Hostess Appreciation event. I wanted to show you one of the little party favors that I made for my girls.
This was made with the Big Shot die called "Movers & Shapers", and a new die that will be available on Wednesday that you can use with the original M&S die to cut out shapes. I chose the heart because I "heart" my hostesses!!
This was really easy to do:
#1) Starting with a 3" X 12" piece of cardstock. Simply layer it across the middle of the die & run through the Big Shot. It will cut the correct length, cut the heart, and score it in the middle.
#2) Then I scored again both ends 5" from the end. That gave me this "W" fold:
#3) Cut 1" off the front top length (side with the heart cut-out). #4) Score the back length 1" from the end so you have a flap to fold over the front. #5) Layer 3" X 1 1/4" strip across front flap & punch with Scallop Border Punch #6) Attach bow with Mini Glue Dot #7) Stamp image & use Heart punch. Add brad & attach with Dimensionals. #8) Close flap with Mini Glue Dot. This is a nice & easy little treat bag - you could use cello bags and put anything inside!! I hope you enjoyed my "mini tutorial" today. It's going to be a busy & exciting week - starting with a trip to the DDS today to finish up what he started earlier in the month. Lucky me, huh?!! Last Sunday - Fathers' Day, no less - Steve & I spent most of the day browsing antique stores, etc., looking for....whatever!! It's one of our favorite things to do & I'm sure he was enjoying himself as much as I did. Well, maybe not quite as much because I seemed to find all the goodies that day!!
I have been looking for one of these dress forms for a really long time & finally found this one at a little place in Lucketts, VA called "Really Great Finds" Isn't this adorable???
I've just started dressing it up, but here's a close-up of what we have so far. I think a few more necklaces are in order - but I really do like the one Mona Lisa pendant (Michaels), and the flower/bow around the waist. (I keep wanting to call it "her", but I guess it's not really human form...yet!!)
I know, I know - not everybody has a "froo-froo room" in their house, as Sue calls mine. But I do - and it NEEDED this dress form!!
Here's how "she" looks in there.... cool, huh??!! ...and, yes, before anyone asks....I really do use that room!! It's just prissy enough for me to sit in while I'm on the phone. So the next time we're chatting, just picture me right in here with my cup of tea/coffee, and you'll probably have a really good idea of what I'm doing/seeing while we're visiting!! Oh, and just in case you're wondering if hubby actually likes this room, too... check this out.... This is one of his PRIZE radios. He collects old phonographs, like Victrolas, and radios like this one. This one even has a place on top where it used to have a handle. He calls it "the original boom box". Imagine carrying that thing around on your shoulder! It must weigh 40 lbs!! Oh, and that is the speaker up on top! LOL!! We've come a long way, baby! I just wanted to share a little bit of my week with you - since I really can't share the stamping projects I've been working on - not just yet! They're for my special hostesses from this past year - and they won't get them until Sunday at my Hostess Appreciation Party!! What a great saying this is. If this is on the front of a card - the card could be for practically any occasion.
This card is going to my dear friend, Debbie. We call her "Little Debbie" because at one time she worked for THE LITTLE DEBBIE Company! Seriously!! She didn't bake those yummy cakes, but she always had a supply of them in her cupboards.
Anyway, after almost TWENTY YEARS of renting, Debbie bought a home!! My first comment to her was "gee, I hope you haven't rushed into this!!" hee hee! I'm so happy for her, and so proud of her, and this saying comes directly from my heart.
It's just a miracle how the whole thing took place. And there couldn't be a home more perfect for her. After being in it for only two weeks, Debbie had the whole place painted & decorated, with everything in just the perfect place. She has a knack for that. Always has.
So to "my dear, kind & wonderful friend", Little Debbie, I send my very best wishes & congratulations - and as always, lots & lots of love. I'm so proud of you!! No one deserves it more :-)
