Bouquets & Bouquets of Flowers

HI there!  Sorry I've been MIA for the past couple of days.  We've been travelling a little more than usual - and we USUALLY travel quite a bit - so I'm really off schedule right now.  But the end is in sight - for travel - hopefully not for me!

We got to spend Memorial Day weekend with my sons, Andy & Adam, and it was so much fun.  We were all together Monday, and the plan was for "mom to cook".  Amazing, isn't it??  Well, they think that I'm a great cook because #1) I'm their mom! LOL! and #2) I actually used to cook all the time when they were living at home.  It's only been since they moved out that I forgot how to cook....on purpose!  After a couple of days with them we went on to Atlanta for a couple of days.  We just got home last night & boy am I POOPED!!

But I wanted to share some bouquets of flowers with you that I made a couple of weeks ago.  Remember when I had that terrible bronchitis-stuff??  Well, I really didn't feel like doing much of anything - but wanted to be doing something.  I can't stand to sit around doing nothing!  So I just stamped a whole bunch of flowers in coordinating colors, and cut them out.  I knew I would use them eventually.

And I did!!  Look at all of these gorgeous flowers!  Fortunately, the week after I was so sick we had our monthly Theatre Guild meeting.  Since I'm in charge of setting up the luncheons (and decorating) I went to my local WalMart and got these teeny tiny little vases (less than $1 each), and some pipe cleaners, and made bouquets of flowers for every table....and we had 10 tables!

The ladies loved them, and they actually asked me how I made them!  ha!  If they were STAMPERS they would know how I made them!!

Anyway, they were so simple, and so colorful, that I just had to share them with you.  You can see the colors I used listed below.

Quilting Stampers...or stamping quilters

My last Team meeting was a Shoebox Swap - and I had so much fun with all the projects the girls brought!

Melissa showed us the "quilting" technique, and then she showed us how to place our creations on the Top Note Sizzix die to cut it out & make a really beautiful background piece.

One thing you needed to pay particular attention to was making sure the "point" at the top of the Top Note Die was lined up in the center of your quilting block.  In my case, the center of the block was where 2 blocks met.  Otherwise it would look off-center. 

It was so much fun, that I had to try it on my own. 

So this first card is my take on her project.....and this is Melissa's original project.... I know this is something that I will be playing with more.  I actually used to quilt - you know, with fabric.  I always said that one day I was going to open up a quilt shop.  hmmm.....wonder when "one day" will get here?!!  But I digress!

Thanks, Melissa, for an awesome project - and for giving me something to quilt.  I'm really looking forward to having some more fun with this idea!
