It's been GORGEOUS here for the past 4-5 days, and I've spent every possible moment outside. It was HEAVEN!!! Do you get Spring Fever?? I do! Every year when it turns really nice outside I have this inner battle - I want to quit my day job and become a gardener. Don't worry - that feeling only lasts until it gets really hot & humid - then I'm glad that I have an indoor job!!
But that also means that my computer, and my stamps, have pretty much been ignored. That's OK.... it's raining today, and that means that I'll be back at work.
I also "ditched" all of the hanging baskets from the past years and got 6 MATCHING baskets like this - and filled them with Geraniums, petunias and I forget what the tiny lavender plants are called. I LOVE that they all match! A new addition to the pool garden this year is the little Angel here. If you can see, this is a little water dish/bird bath/or as I now call it.....Cousins new water bowl!! It's in front of one of my Clematis plants which will be FILLED with big purple flowers soon. I have 5 of them this year all around the pool and deck - I can't wait for them to bloom!! (I've already put the bug in Steve's ear to add a pergola to the deck just so the Clematis can climb up & over it. Wouldn't that be perfect? Please feel free to call or email him and tell him you think that's a great idea! LOL!!!) One of my least favorite jobs is opening up the Koi Pond - or as I call it - waking up the fishes. Did you know they don't EAT during the winter?? Don't I wish I could be that way!! But the water really gets yukky and gets leaves, etc. in there. Not a fun job! But it's starting to get clean now, and I added a couple more water plants to the 2 WaterLillies that are already in there. I can't wait for them to grow and bloom!!
These are all lining the pool area.
In addition to all of this, here's what else we've done over the past 4 days:
added 2 peach trees
added 2 leland cypress trees
added 1 butterfly bush
added 4 azaleas, moved 2 others
added 4 shrubs
added 6 daisy plants
filled 5 (large) planters with annuals
filled misc. pots with annuals, etc
added Miracle Grow to all of it!!
and opened up the pool
It feels good to have such a big start on the yard & garden! Next step is to get some tomato & pepper plants in the ground. They're in pots on my deck, I just didn't have enough Advil on hand to finish the job!!
I'll be back in the stamp room later today - after getting my hair cut, and letting Sherry fuss at me for cutting it myself over the past few days. That's what I do when it gets hot & my hair is in my face. Oh well, she's good - she can fix my mistakes!
Have a great day and thanks for popping by!
