Hey Good Friend - It's a Girl!!

 When I found this set in my bag at Leadership a couple of weeks ago I wasn't quite sure what I would do with it.  I'm not quite sure this was the original intent of the set - but I think this little birdie is the perfect one to announce to the world that "it's a girl!"  Don't you think so??!!

My friend, Amy, just had another little girl this week (#3).  So even though I've already sent her a card through the mail - I'm sending this one to her, too, via blog.  Congrats, Amy!!! 

This set was really easy to use - no need for the stamp positioner at all.  The birdie was inked up in Pink Pirouette, then sponged around the edges with Regal Rose.  Her legs were a little too long for this image, so I just masked off the body before stamping them.  aahhhh....I love easy!

Oh, one more little tip...see the strip along the bottom scallop edge??  That is the opposite side of the DSP.  It's the part that was cut away when I punched with the Scallop Edge Punch.  That worked out well to accent that border.

That's all for today.  I'll be spending the day with one of our sons that is having some out-patient surgery.  It made my day when he said it would be nice if I came down & stayed with him.  It's nice to be needed - even better to be wanted!!

Color Throw Down #27

 Oh, Ouch, Ooooooweee!!!  This was a tough one for me.  You see, I NEVER use Brocade Blue.  NEVER.  EVER.  I have packs of Brocade Blue from 3 color changes ago!!  Goodness - from three HOUSES ago!!  I'm not even sure that the shade of Brocade Blue I used is the current shade at all!  It's not that I don't like it - how would I know??  LOL!

But a CHALLENGE IS A CHALLENGE - and I saw this as a real opportunity.   I combined the CTD Challenge with this weeks Sketch Challenge (#213) from Splitcoaststampers and really knocked myself out!  I turned that sketch on its' side & here's what I did....

What do you think???  I'm actually quite pleased with this one.  (was that my outside voice???!!)  hahaha!  I am happy with it because:

#1)  I used Brocade Blue!!

#2)  I used new DSP's (Jackpot) without any hesitation even though I know this is the only pack I have!  and,

3)  This is so totally NOT me!  LOL!!

At any rate, it was fun and I hope this brings me one step closer to thinking - and getting - outside of the box from time to time.

One Hole Bow Tutorial

 This is one of the easiest ways to tie a bow AND to keep it in place.  My upline, Pennie, taught me this years ago - and it's still one of my favorite things to teach.  So here goes....

1)  You start by punching a hole in your project where you want the bow to be.

For this particular project I've used a 1/4" punch since the ribbon is not really skinny.

2)  The next step is with the ribbon.

You bring one end of your ribbon FROM THE BACK side of the project TO THE FRONT.  Leave yourself about a 2-3" tail to tie later.

3)  The next thing you're going to do is take the long end of the ribbon - the one that is coming out from the back side of the project, and wrap it all the way across the front.  You'll want to keep a finger on the opposite end of the ribbon so you don't pull it all the way through!

Looking at the project here, you will take the long end of the ribbon and bring it from the left-hand-side of the project, all the way across the front.

 

You're almost done!  Here comes the fun part!!

4)  Now, still working with the long end of the ribbon, wrap it around to the back toward the hole you punched in the beginning.

 

Pull the ribbon FROM THE BACK of the project TO THE FRONT just like you did in Step #2.

Now, you will have both ends of the ribbon on the front of the project.  One end should be above the ribbon crossing the front, and the other end should be below the ribbon crossing the front.

 

5)  The last step of the project is to simply tie a single knot with the ribbon.

The rest is of course up to you to decorate to your hearts' content!

Several of you have asked about Steve & his test results.  I was afraid I was boring you with all that so I never brought it up again - but here is a brief summary of the comedy (or not) of errors.....

He had lab work last week - and the lab did it all wrong.  So that was re-done last week.

He had CT Scan last week - and that was all wrong, too!  So yesterday he had another Scan.  Let's hope it was (1) done correctly, and (2) we get the results soon, and (3) it's nothing BAD!

He went to the Dr. last week & had an "episode" while in his office - and landed in the Emergency Room!!  But it appears to have been too much medicine on an empty stomach (yeah, I told him, but what do I know!!)

He's still in lots of pain and hopefully will know something really, really soon!!

So thank you for asking!  It's good to know that we have friends looking out for us!!!

Got Snow??

 Yes, we do!  And I'm sending you some snow tonight, too!!  Although I'm sure some of you are saying "No, thanks!!"  hee hee!

This card is the result of snow AND that Double-Sided Kiwi Kiss/Very Vanilla Ribbon that I used on yesterdays' card.  It is soooo lovely!!  Tonight I've paired Kiwi Kiss with Orchid Opulence.  Love it!

The ribbon has been attached by using the "One Hole Bow" technique.  If you're not familiar with how to add a bow this way, I will be posting a tutorial on this later tonight or tomorrow.  I promise you'll love it!

The greeting at the bottom is on the inside of the card.  I've used the Key Hole punch to make a "peep hole" through the front for a little different effect.

I hope wherever you are tonight that you're staying nice & warm.  I got some new UGGS over the weekend - so my toes are very toasty right now  :-)
