My Swap Card

Oops!  I meant to post this card earlier in the week, but it kept getting pushed behind all the others!

This is the card that I made for my d/l Christmas Card Swap.  It has a base of Riding Hood Red cs, then Confetti White (7 7/8" X 5 1/4") on top.  This top piece is not folded in half.  The top layer is shorter by 3/8" so the scallop edge (All Scallops) shows underneath when the card is folded closed (see the cards in the background for a better example)  I did actually use the Stamp Positioner to get these images straight and centered (rare occurence for me!!).

The top was so quick & easy that I should be ashamed of myself.  But I'm not!  LOL!!  The sentiments came from my Sizzix die "Join in the Cheer".  I used Peace, Joy and Cheer for these cards - and Love for the card I posted a couple of days ago.  They were all cut from Bella Rose DSP, and only used a 2 1/2" strip to make them.  I got TWENTY greetings from one 12 X 12 sheet of paper!!  I just used my 2-Way Glue Pen to attach them.

The squares under the snowflakes are also from Bella Rose DSP & made with the Square Scallop punch.  Then a Felt Flurries snowflakes was added to each one using Crystal Effects.  The half-pearl is from my Pretties Kit, and attached with Crystal Effects also.  The red border along the botton edge (front) of the card was made with my Real Red Journaler & ruler.

I did use some padding for mailing these.  I haven't heard any replies from the girls that they didn't make it all in one piece!!

So that's my swap card!  I can't wait to get my mail over the next few days!!  :-)

I love getting mail!!

I was thinking this morning that if you're not a stamper already, you should be!   I mean...on top of all the fun we have STAMPING - we also get to meet tons of wonderful people, we learn something new pretty much every day, AND... going to the mailbox is FUN!!  LOL!!

I'm currently hosting a Christmas swap with my direct downline AND anyone in "management" anywhere in my 4 levels.  I just got my first swap card in the mail this week!

This beautiful card is from Sarah.  Isn't it wonderful?!  She told me ahead of time that it had lots of layers, and they are PERFECT.  She started with a Kraft cs base and accented with Ski Slope DSP.  This is a brand new paper in the Winter Mini Catty - and won't be around forever (hint, hint!).

She's picked up her layers from the DSP, Chocolate Chip, Old Olive & Riding Hood Red.  It also has Baja Breeze - and that's where the Felt Flurries snowflake comes in!  Isn't that a great accent?!!  Again... from the Winter Mini (better hurry!!). 

The snowflakes in the background are from Scandinavian Season (boy, she's stuck on that Winter Mini, isn't she?!!  LOL!!) and stamped in White Craft.  She's finished it off with the Scallop Edge punch and 1/16" circle punch in the scallops -- and the sentiment from "Heard from the Heart".  Great job, Sarah!!

But that's not all I got in the mail - I got this little treat from Susan!!  She sent me copies of all her pics from Convention!!

Susan used Haiku DSP to make a belly-band around this Old Olive CD cover.  Isn't that a great idea?  Then she used her BIG SHOT (love that machine!!) to make a SU! 20th Anniversary medallion for the front.  She finished it off with a stamp that we got at Convention for SU! Statement of the Heart.  That is the absolutely most perfect - cat's meow - finishing touch for this sweet little gift.

Always - Join in the Cheer!

In my "Medallion" Post last week I used one of the Sizzix dies called "Join in the Cheer" for the greeting on that card.   Three of the four greetings on that particular die work very well for Christmas, but I decided to keep this one separate and use it for something different.  This is what I came up with.

For this card I started with a Pink Pirouette card, and added a line around 3 sides with my Real Red Stampin' Write marker.  Then I added a strip of DSP from "Holiday Treasures".  You probably wouldn't think of this paper for a "Love" card, since it tends to be more Christmas oriented - but here it works beautifully!

The heart in the center is from "Always".  I've stamped this on Confetti White cs with Riding Hood Red ink, then sponged in some RHR ink to add depth and around the edges.  I've also used the Signo White Gel pen for highlights.  The little rhinestone brad (Pretties Kit) was added to a separate flower that was stamped in Chocolate Chip & punched with with a 1/2" circle punch.

The sentiment is cut from Bella Rose DSP and attached with 2-way Glue Pen.  The ribbon is Lt. Pink Taffeta, and for balance, I used the Photo Corner punch with a scrap of Bella Rose DSP to add just one layer in the upper corner.

I know I've said earlier that every time I use this set it comes out entirely different - and I think this card shows that it's true.  I hope you enjoy it!!

 

 

Gettin' Punchy for the Holidays!

If you love SU! punches, then you're going to love making these cards!

Start with the 1 3/4" circle punch for the bulbs, then use the Round Tab punch for the tops, and finish with the 1/8" circle punch for the Elastic Cord to pull through.  How fun is this!!

I used the Piercing Tool to make a hole through the Baja Breeze base, and pulled one end of the cord through it, with the other wrapping over the front.  Then I tied a knot in the two, and made a bow.  The elastic cord makes this a breeze.

The DSP is "Holiday Treasures", the card base is Riding Hood Red.  Snowburst is from "Snowburst", stamped with White Craft Pad.  Sentiment is from "Warm Words".

Home Decor

I just got this LEVEL 2 HOSTESS SET this week, and couldn't wait to get it on my wall - and then share it with you when I saw how awesome it looked!

This is a brand new Hostess Choice from the SU! Decor Elements line called "Home is Love".  It is wonderful!  While I really like the other DE items that I have, I think there has been a slight "tweaking" somewhere because this one transferred to the backing sheet with very little effort, and when I transferred it to the wall it was a breeze.  Love it!!

I'm not showing a close up of the item itself (you can see that in the online brochure!), but what I really wanted you to see is how this looks in a "real home".

I chose white because the trim in our home is white, and I wanted a subtle effect.  This area is just off our entry foyer in the living room, and I didn't want it to shout at you when you walked in the door!

The next pic here is from a different angle, but I think it shows much better the size of this particular DE. 

If you haven't tried the new Decor Elements, you really should!  We have a new addition of items - and new colors.  My next order will include the "Jingle All the Way" for my front (glass) door.  I can't wait to get it now!!
