Quick post-op update

Hi girls!  Thanks so much for your emails, comments & texts!!

Steve is doing pretty well from the surgery.  He was convinced that he would be coming home today - but not so!  The surgery took longer than normal (3 hrs) and the Dr really felt like he should stay another day since he was pretty groggy this morning & in considerable pain.  BUT... he did get up & walk this morning - TWICE!!  woo hoo!!

I came home to let him sleep - and get in a quick nap myself!  So I'm heading back out to the hospital now to check on him.  The plan is that he will be coming home tomorrow afternoon.  :-)

Thanks, again, for caring!!  He gets a grin everytime I tell him one of his girl-friends is asking!!

Merry Monday Challenge #4

I didn't think it would happen this week - but lookie here, peeps!!  I managed to join the Merry Monday Challenge #4!!

In spite of all the rain outside, my mind was on snow and ice skating.  I tried it once - a few times, actually, when we lived in Colorado.  I never could get up enough courage to be very good at it.  But watching figure skaters is one of my favorite things to do.  If I ever get to be a kid again, I'm going to learn ice skating while I'm young!!

Here is LESLEY'S SKETCH.  I'm still lovin' the simplicity of these sketches!!

Instead of going with a traditional "Merry Christmas" or "Happy Holidays", I decided to turn this one into a Holiday Notecard.  This sentiment fit perfectly with what was in my brain!!  I think that's a good thing....hmm....!!

Anyway, the reason I was sweating getting this Challenge done is because hubby & I have been busy, busy, busy designing our SOON TO BE REMODELED KITCHEN and ALL NEW BACK PORCH!!  It's been a long time in the works - but we signed off on the contracts this afternoon & work will begin within the next couple of weeks!!  And yes, I WILL be posting "before" and "after" pictures...and probably a few in-betweens!

Also, hubby is going in for surgery TOMORROW MORNING!!  He's been having lots of back problems for months & months (that means YEARS).  He finally decided he just can't take it any longer - so he's taking care of it at 7:00 am tomorrow.  Your thoughts & prayers will be much appreciated!!!

Every day holds the possibility of a miracle!!

Have you ever noticed this little quote from the SU! stamp set "Peace Within"??  I must admit that I've owned the set for a while, but just now READ the quote.  It's quite beautiful.  I can see myself using this quite a bit.

I got a little adventurous with this card & that's quite impressive for me these days!! I made the little rosette from scratch!!  Yeah, I know, borderline genius.  (bwahaha!)  It was easy.  I started by punching a 1 1/4" circle from the big sheets of Sticky Adhesive, and then punched a 1/8" hole in the center to hold my brad in place (which will be put in last).  Then I took an 18"-21" strip of the new SU! ribbon in the Occasions Mini catty, and twisted it over & over & over.  As I twisted, I adhered it to the sticky circle, starting in the middle & working my way to the outer edge.  When it was all stuck in place, I popped the brad into the center.  Then I tucked the other end of the ribbon around to the back & stuck it down nice & tight with another piece of sticky strip.  Then it was attached to the sentiment & front of card with more sticky strip.  I don't think it's going anywhere!!!

These beautiful new DSP's are from the new Occasions Mini, too.  gorgeous!
